Who are we?

Best of both worlds
Running and walking are easy to do on your own, or with others it's fun and motivating. You can do it with no strings attached or with an app, at a time and location that suits you best.
Fewer Injuries
But you can also join a club with certified trainers. This reduces the risk of injuries, which are especially common when running. And it helps you improve your goals, if you have that ambition, in terms of distance, duration, or speed. A trainer will guide you through a well-thought-out schedule, both as a group and individually.
Get Running offers the best of both worlds: the fun (and motivation) of a small running group and the professional aspect of a larger club. We offer a place for runners and walkers of all levels. Our motto is "performance is nice, fun is a must."
Affordable
We are an open, inclusive club with a wide variety of members. Get Running is for everyone. Accessible and affordable, membership costs only 2 euros per week or 1 euro per training session.
Social Safety
Get Running has a clear policy on physical and social safety, which meets the requirements of the Dutch sports governing body NOC*NSF, the Athletics Union (KNAU), and Eindhoven Sport (Municipality of Eindhoven). This policy is aimed at preventing incidents and includes procedures in the event of an incident. It is based on the 4 Cās:
Confidential contact persons
Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) for coaches and board members
Coaches that are trained professionally
History
Simon Sirken started a running course called Get Running on March 6, 2004. At the time, he was a youth coach at Olympia athletics club ā which later merged with PSV Athletics to form the current Eindhoven Athletics ā and wanted to encourage people to enjoy running. The participants in that first course were enthusiastic, formed a regular group, and asked Simon to continue as a coach. Payment was made with a punch card.
In its early years, the running group Get Running was affiliated with the eponymous store in Eindhoven. At the end of 2009, it was formally established as an association through a notary, and five years later, when the store closed, Get Running became entirely independent as a club. Membership has fluctuated around 50-60 over the years, and the motto still holds true: performance is nice, fun is a must.

Get Runner of the Year
Some members participate in a lot of board work, others regularly plan and organize runs, and yet another always brings positivity to the group and even picks up plastic along the way during training. Or they're a super-enthusiastic trainer with always great ideas and initiatives. Every year, we select a Get Runner of the Year, who is awarded the Silver Shoe.
